Gump’s on Post Street

How do you describe Gump’s to someone who has no idea what this traditional San Francisco shopping place is? I say, it’s an inimitable emporium that delights all the senses at once! I lucked out and got to hang off a fire escape on Post Street and get this early Saturday morning shot.

They’ve been around San Francisco since the 1890’s. They must be doing something right. Actually, they get a lot of things right, that’s why they’re world famous, a must-shop place for ladies who lunch, and nostalgic San Franciscans. I love their glass Christmas ornaments, and their eclectic household wares. And, of course, no visit is complete without checking in with their in-house lucky Buddha.
