The fountain is activated by the buses moving along the roadway on the bus platform level below. The transit center was closed for almost a year, while they fixed the cracked steel beams and made it safe again for transit riders. The fountain is up on the roof, bordering the public park. I took a stroll before jumping on the bus to Oakland. Shout out to the A.C. Transit transbay buses, todays equivalent of dad’s beloved Key System!
Here’s the fountain in action. Kind of cool, but the whole garden was not as exciting as I had been led to believe it would be. Do I still mourn the loss of the old Transbay Terminal? Yeah. But at least this new one seems to know how to keep the buses running on time.
